Sometimes Doing The Right Thing Can Be Really Inconvienent!
Let's not lower our Guard now!
After months of planing and anticipation , we decided to to end our Panama visit early. We intended to spend two weeks exploring David, Boquete and then Panama City. But the best laid plains....
When you are planing to relocate to a foreign country there are many things you need to check out. For example, we wanted to make sure that all of our medications and supplements were available locally so we had researched the Spanish names of everything and made a list to take to the local "farmacia" . We also needed to meet with our Immigration attorney to make sure all of our necessary paper work was in order so we could revive our temporary visas.
Other to-dos were opening a bank account, checking out the offerings at the local grocery stores, and exploring neighborhoods where we might possible find a rental home.
Two days after our arrival, The Ministry of Health of Panama responded to an up-tick in the number of new Covid-19 infections and decided to expand the curfew. Retail establishments and the airports were to remain open but with restrictions that would really limit our activities and impact our planned explorations. The most restrictive element was the gender restriction. Bob and I travel as a pair! no way were we going to have him go out one day and me the next. So we made the decision to head for home on the 20th before the restrictions began.
Yes! I can now go shopping at the big box store in Panama! |
In the mean time we did accomplish a couple of tasks. We got the photos we needed for our visa paper work, (eight pics for $2.80) and we got our PriceSmart Card! -- Which is the equivalent of a Costco card. We also did some shopping at PriceSmart -- Primarily wine and cookies! (Also know as a Covid lock-down survival kit.)
